No more blasphemy at the Olympic Games!

In view of the blasphemous acts at the opening of the XXXIII Olympic Games in Paris 2024, we speak out firmly against the mockery of the Lord’s Supper. The blasphemous staging, in which drag queens parodied one of the most important events of Christianity, was an expression of deep contempt for our faith. We demand respect for Christian values on the international stage. Join our appeal to the International Olympic Committee and support the fight for respect for Christians in the world.

CONTENT OF THE APPEAL

Dear Thomas Bach

President of the International Olympic Committee

In view of the blasphemous acts that took place during the opening of the XXXIII Olympic Games in Paris 2024, we strongly protest and call on the International Olympic Committee to take action to draw consequences against the perpetrators of this barbaric incident – the mockery of one of the most important events associated with Christianity, the Lord’s Supper.

The laconic apology forced by the protesters from a spokeswoman for the organising committee for the opening of the XXXIII Paris 2024 Olympic Games was limited to the fact that „the organisers had no intention of disrespecting any religious group”. The head of the ceremony himself said: „We have apologised if we have offended anyone. However, this is not an apology in the sense of 'we made a mistake’.”

These words do not get to the heart of the desecration, they trivialise a shameful act that should never and nowhere take place, especially not during the Olympic Games, which are supposed to bring people together and bridge conflicts. The organisers still do not want to see the core of the problem – the blasphemy and mockery of the Last Supper, one of the most important events in Christian and world history.

The „rainbow” parody of the Last Supper starring drag queens is an eloquent testimony to the ongoing institutional condoning of the mockery of Christianity by international organisations, to the trampling of sanctities recognised by hundreds of millions of people, and to the shattering of civilising norms in a despicable and unacceptable way for any decent human being.

Exposing productions whose only artistic value is anti-religious iconoclasm is an example of the moral decadence of all those who organised the inauguration of the Paris Olympic Games and of those who, for their own convenience and to keep their cushy jobs, do not react to the trampling of God’s laws, the insulting of the most important figures for Christians and the mockery and contempt for the religious feelings of believers.

The world public was able to see this at the opening ceremony of the XXXIII Olympic Games in Paris 2024. In their ideological zeal, the organisers of this event showed the world the thoroughly anti-Christian process of revolution aimed at the final destruction of Christian civilisation and the subversion of the resulting social order. In one performance, they demonstrated with revolutionary audacity their predilection for the crime of genocide modelled on the so-called French Revolution and the project of building a new post-revolutionary, neo-Marxist world without God and religion, contained in the song „Imagine”. At the same time, the authors of the Paris show make no secret of their intentions towards the laws of God and those who continue to uphold them. This found expression in the blasphemous staging of the Last Supper of our Lord Jesus Christ. The blasphemers at the event in Paris, who wanted to desecrate and desecrate one of the most important events in the work of Our Lord, the institution of the sacrament of the Eucharist, which is salutary for us, used the deviant and perverse behaviour of people associated with LGBTQ+ ideology.

As Catholics and citizens of different countries, we expect that the ruthless attack on the values we recognise will be met with a swift and appropriate response from the International Olympic Committee.

In Article 6 of the Statutes of the International Olympic Committee, one of the stated objectives is „to „work for gender equality in sport and against discrimination in sport”.

We demand that the anti-discrimination clause be enforced by the authorities of the International Olympic Committee against those responsible for the discrimination against Christians in the anti-culture show that took place under the banner of the International Olympic Committee.

We have the right to demand that the International Olympic Committee apologise to those whose religious feelings and elementary aesthetic sensibilities were violated by the perpetrators of the scandalous performance – the opening of the XXXIII Olympic Games.

The International Olympic Committee’s Code of Ethics states the following:

„Respect for fundamental universal ethical principles is at the heart of Olympism. Respect for international conventions for the protection of human rights, insofar as they apply to activities during the Olympic Games, which conventions provide in particular for:

– respect for human dignity; – the elimination of all discrimination based on any ground: race, skin colour, sex, sexual orientation, language, religion, political or other opinions, national or social origin, property status, birth or any other qualification (…)”.

Referring to the above provisions, we once again call on the International Olympic Committee to take decisive steps to prevent similar incidents in the future and to punish those responsible for these blasphemous actions.

Organisers' appeal to Christians around the world:

In expressing this objection to the discriminatory and profane practises at the greatest international celebration of sport, which should be the Olympic Games, we appeal to all communities and institutions to join the social protest and counter the moral decay that is destroying the spiritual and ethical dimension of sport.

Above all, we ask and appeal to the Catholic laity and clergy and to our clergy for prayers of atonement and reparation for the blasphemies committed and for the grace of repentance and conversion for all blasphemers and those who, by their consent or silence, have contributed to or condoned these blasphemies.
